I think I will read anything this author writes. She explored the dredges of motherhood, marriage, the mother wound and friendship in a way that I felt so viscerally. I was moved to tears at the absolute humanness of these characters experience. It was beautiful and painful and raw and I absolutely loved it so so much.

Julia goes through life always waiting for the shoe to drop - having a hard time moving through the world.
Has a nice life but doesn’t have the same tools as most of us

The author describes an intimate relationship with her characters so much so that her characters feel real so she cares more about them and hopes that her readers care about them too. The author slowly discloses the failures of her characters as the story develops so I was engaged with the story and characters. I just wish they had made better choices I guess.

Around a 100 pages into this book, I grew bored with the long, drawn out storyline. Julia was not a sympathetic character at all. Tighter narratives and better editing may have helped me finish this book. Oh well! Life is too short to slog through a tome.
