This was a well-written recount of the fight endured by 4 SEALs. It's admirable & deserve immense respect for all that these men, and men after them, did/do for our country. The first half was a bit slow for me but once the battle ensued, I couldn't put it down. Thank you for your service!

This is a great book...when Luttrell writes about what he knows and does well: war. His writing style and story telling is crisp and engaging and you just have to keep turning the pages. However, it's very clear very quickly that Marcus is not a writer by trade, nor a thinker, but rather a trigger puller. Unfortunately it seems like his editors realized too late that his story on paper was too short for publication and regrettable told him to "stretch it"! And so we find a full half of Lone Survivor is full of the poorly written, poorly argued, overly emotional rightest socio-political bullshit about "the liberal media" and decision makers who didn't know how to make decisions. It was very hard at times to remember that Luttrell is college educated.

As it is, if you can get past the skid-marks that are this badass SEAL's own thoughts than this is definitely a must-read book.
