It’s hard to accurately rate this book without the show in mind. It definitely ramps up in the back half though.

This is the type of book that pulls you in and doesn't let go. There are many different points of view, which serve to expand the plot and world-building to staggering proportions. The Song of Ice and Fire series is perfect for those with escapism habits.

Spoilers, and Tw - Would have been better without all the incest plot lines. The ages of some of the younger characters are just creepy, mainly Danys relationship with khal drogo felt like a romanticisation of statutory r@pe. 
The world building is brilliant and the world itself is so vast and detailed but it was the writing and treatment most of the female characters that let it down
