Someone is filming women in their homes and then killing them... Are the victims connected or random? Is this killer a serial killer or just killed two victims? The hypnotist will tell you the truth!
I've always been attracted by Lars Kepler books, but never had a chance to read any of his books. The Stalker is the 5th book of the Joona Linda series, you can read it alone, but you will miss the background of some of the principal characters.
The Lars Kepler writing is so realistic that you can feel the fear and pain of the victims. You know, when you are watching a terror movie and close your eyes because you don't want to see how the "killer" hits the victim? Since I have read this book I check two times my windows at night!
I liked this book, it was interesting how the hypnotist tries to discover the hidden memories of the victims, I always found the hypnotism quite fascinating, discovering memories you don't know exist...!
I am not putting a high score in this book because I was quite lost with the characters, there were too many principal characters and sometimes it felt that their story didn't belong to the book. I highly recommend you to read all the series before starting this book, or you will be quite lost!
If you are searching for a good psychological thriller with drops of terror, this is your book!

The National Crime Unit in Stockholm receives a video of a woman, shortly afterwards she is found murdered. Then they receive another but cannot trace her before she too dies. Then there is a third. Clues from the way the bodies are staged leads leads psychologist Erik Bark to a former patient now convicted of murder and in a psychiatric unit. Meanwhile after the death of the criminal who was terrorising his family Finnish detective Junna Linna can come out of hiding. When the clues in the murder cases seem to suggest that Bark is the perpetrator Linna is in a race to solve the crimes before more women die.

The Junna Linna series of novels by the husband and wife team with the pen name Lars Kepler are now at their fifth instalment and the tension never lets up for a second. Whilst the plot is very convoluted, the links are clever and it does all make sense in the end! This is good quality Scandic-Crime but with a vary tough and unpleasant edge to it - it's not a soft read.

Not a bad story but maybe you have to have read #1-4 to appreciate Joona. Is the original this stilted or is it the translation?

A very very late post!

"God lost me somewhere along the way … and didn’t come back to look for me"

I started this book in day of cyclone Fani. We didn't have electricity or mobile connectivity for 10days following the wrath of nature. It brought Bhubaneswar and Puri down on it's knees. Nobody felt like doing anything in the extremely hot and humid weather. I read my book under the 🕯️ after work each evening. At least it took my mind off of things.

If you love dark, twisted thrillers then welcome to 'stalker'. This apparently is part of a series but I haven't read the rest. Originally published in Swedish by a married couple under the pseudonym of 'Lars Keplar', this book is a treat for all the Gillian Flynn fans out there.

A great page turner.

This is hands down the scariest book I've read in a while. I have big regrets about starting to read it whilst home along! I also think it's the first book I've read that has been translated from Swedish, and the first I've read co-written by a husband and wife team.

When the police are sent a video of a woman in her own home, they don't think much of it until she turns up dead, killed shortly after the video was sent. It's the most brutal killing detective Margot's seen in a long time, and she's convinced from the start that they're dealing with a serial killer, and this won't be the last murder like this. Unfortunately for the team, she's right, and soon they must try to capture the killer before the numbers of murdered women grow and grow.

I found the English translation in this book a little bit off at times, which made it a little jarring. I think the plot was great: it was a terrifying thriller and I was desperate to find out who the murderer was. The book had some great twists too, and I was shocked by the ending. I do however think it really dragged at some points. It was such a long book and I think it would have been a five star read for me if the pace was a little different and it was less repetitive.
