I just realised that I never wrote a review for this book!

I had only ever read the second novel as a child so I was a bit behind and it was time to catch up. This was a beautiful story about a child with a wonderful imagination. She may get herself into scrapes but she genuinely cares for others.

I find that I really relate to Anne, fire up easily, get into scrapes, let my imagination run wild and am absolutely stubborn.

Can't wait to finish all the others in this series.

*I selected this for a Reading Challenge as a popular authors first book*

Anne adalah anak yang aktif, ekspresif, dan imajinatif. Tipe anak yang dicap "aneh" dan "nakal" oleh orang dewasa di sekitarnya.

An absolutely wonderful read, Anne of Green Gables is a story of hope for those of us who don't want to lose our inner child, and a story of salvation for those who think they have.

It's beautiful, it's touching, and it's timeless.

I appreciate that this is a charming, ever-popular book. And it's a pleasant, enjoyable book! That said, I never read any of the series as a child, so reading this didn't carry the element of nostalgia that I know it does for many people. (That isn't to say that I wish I would have read it as a child--unfortunately, I am pretty sure I wouldn't have liked it much back then).

As it is, I was more interested in the the adults in the story than in Anne herself, but I can easily understand why she is such a beloved character for so many.

The worst thing about reading this book is the realization I did myself a major disservice by not reading it sooner. But better late than never.
