It is helpful to have read some of her other books to have some backstory. Good plotline. Still not a fan of anal. Has some fun dominant traits but they don't get in the way of good sex.

Entertaining story that gives a sense of the larger world this series is a spin-off from. I did have a problem with how easily the heroine's friends accepted that she was a shifter (though seeing it happen would be pretty convincing) and that there were other were-animals out there - and hey you're the fated mates to a couple of them and basically have no choice in the matter, even though you don't feel the mystical woo-woo connection because you're human. Whew!

I stopped reading this because I'm flighty and change the type of book I'm in the mood for very quickly. I'll probably pick this up again when I'm in the right mood.

EDIT: I picked this up again and finished it this time. It (along with all the other books by this author I've read) was enjoyable, but not great. I probably won't read it again.

As always, I basically post about my complaints, because I know that if I read a review and can handle the things that other people don’t like, then I may like the book. To say some good things, it was a fun quick read that was pretty straightforward shifter romance.

I know that insta-lust or -love is a thing with shifter romance, and usually I can get into it, but I couldn’t for this one. The main leads have barely known each other for two days and they are talking about how they trust each other implicitly, in situations that, even with a mate bond, didn’t feel like they should have that level of trust. Another example of this was the first time they had anal sex. First of all, there was no conversation about Tabby’s boundaries before hand, or talk about if she wanted to do that, just Bunny deciding that he wanted to. Unrealistically, there was no prep work before he just plunged right in there, but we are supposed to believe that he knows everything he is doing will be fine, because he knows all of her sexual tells after having sex ONE time. Uh huh.

Another, maybe stylistic thing, that I didn’t like was that they talked about how he was so affected by his bear side, but there is hardly any mention whatsoever of Tabby being a wolf. Isn’t that the point of a shifter romance? It felt like it bought into the trope of men needing to be bestial and powerful sexually, whereas the women should be less so. Maybe not intentionally, but that’s the vibe I was getting from it. The whole dominant male comes up in an unappealing way later, in which Bunny is the one to tell the Puma pack about her life story, even though, again, he has only known her for less than a week. The woman is capable of talking about her own experiences, thank you.

On a side note, Tabby also drives Bunny’s motorcycle multiple times. Many problems I have with that. First, we don’t hear any mention of her ever learning how to drive a motorcycle. She’s been living as a wolf for years so it’s not even certain she had a drivers license, let alone a motorcycle license. Second, and as a woman biker myself, there is no way, if she was that much smaller than Bunny (as she is described) that she would be able to handle that large of a bike. I am larger than what she is described as, and there is no way I can handle a bike built for someone of Bunny’s size. Yes she’s a shifter so she might be able to control it with increased strength, but if so I feel like maybe this should be stated?

Another small detail, was I could have sworn that he was described as an only child at one point in the book, but later we are told that he has a brother. Maybe it wasn’t caught in editing, but that seems like a mistake.

The idea that her parents would disown her that readily after no other trauma that we are told about is also not super believable to me. There is no way that loving, caring parents would not speak up for their child who has been accused of crimes and will be exiled. The only way that would make sense to me is if there was maybe some abuse/neglect, or something else going wrong in their relationship with her.

Okay so rant over. This book wasn’t really bad, but there were just a handful of things that really ruined it for me. Maybe I wasn’t in the right mood to look past these, but this book really fell flat for me.

It has been a little while since I read this book but here is what I recall...

I love the series!! Yummy romance involving shifters. Plenty of steamy action and a touch of humor!

Definitely a series to get into! I started it and didn't stop until I reached the last book that was released! I am always looking for the next book!

If you like steamy shifter romances this is a series to look into!!!!

These books take me back to the heyday of Loveswept romances from the 1980s. It's all tidy pairings and sassy banter and cartoonish violence.

But there's also this:
“You not only disobeyed the local Alpha, you attempted something that is considered anathema to all shifters. You tried to rape another man’s mate. That makes you rogue.”

I guess raping a single woman isn't as bad?

Three stars for nostalgia.
