I like the artwork, but I just really don't love the story. I'll probably keep reading in the series, though.

Finally, a comic book that lives up to the hype. This second volume is an absolute page-turner that exceeded my expectations; the new characters introduced are brilliantly crafted and the twists and turns in the story are very well thought out.
The Chew Universe is fascinating and full of surprises. John Layman and Rob Guillory set the bar very high with Chew Vol. 2, and I will keep my hopes very high for the next volumes, expecting them to dazzle me again and again.

As with the first volume (which I need to read again), I was attracted by the artwork more than the storyline of this comic :) That's not to say that the story wasn't intriguing and original (it was!). In fact, it was almost too orginal, bordering on the bizarre. Which matches the artwork almost perfectly, so there you go :) The thing I can say without a doubt about this comic is that it's never boring! And the characters are so interesting! I especially loved Tony's new partner John Colby (what happened between him and Applebee anyway??? Like seriously, how did we get there??? I was cracking up! :P) and I'm interested to see them work together more (unlike his LAST partner, sheesh...).

The second book in the series of graphic novels, Chew Volume 2 is just as fun as the first volume. Following Tony Chu as he hunts down a lead pertaining to the first story. He winds up on a tropical island where, a fruit is being grown that, when cooked, tastes remarkably like chicken. Unfortunately, trouble seems to follow Tony and his trip to investigate a lead off the clock turns into something more sinister.

I really enjoy these books and I love the original food-related "powers" that author John Layman, comes up with for the characters.

I'm liking this series even more now that we're getting in depth to the plot instead of mostly introducing the world. There are a few misteps in it for me though: proportions on one of the female characters that really made me cringe, and plotwise, a few jumps the next step in the investigation that I don't feel were properly explained.
