Well gosh. Chambers delivers- AGAIN. How does she make me fall in love with everyone I meet in her novels? Her character development is so real, I just can't get over it. As usual, the world building is on point, the story is engaging, and I even cried a bit at the end. I'm always sorry to see the characters go at the end of her books. Everything wraps up very well, but I get so attached...

The story in this one is a bit more intense. Much more like the 2nd in the series rather than the 1st. So while I don't think it falls into the cozy category, I can't help feeling relaxed while reading her books. Coming back to this series feels like coming home. Once again, I can't wait for the next one.

This one is a bit different from the others. There's less plot and more character exploration. It's absolutely wonderful. Again, this is not a fluffy book. It's a book that feels grounded in the human experience while also being kind to the reader. Maybe not as strong as the first two books, but still far and above the gritty stuff that saturates the genre.

Another fabulous book by Becky Chambers. Slow to start but it picked up towards the end with lots of emotional punches and aspects that I didn’t see coming. A relatable book of another world with poignant messages.

Quite the turn from her prior installments with a dark, traumatic start. It set the groundwork for some emotional stakes that resonate in the Fleet community in varying places. Wonderful characters, as always.

This book reminds me a lot of Becky Chambers’ later series of novellas, The Monk and Robot. Many characters in this book and the main character of the other books, are struggling with finding purpose, even though their lives are good or their jobs are fulfilling.  I couldn’t get into this book as much as the first two, but that’s not to say I didn’t enjoy it.
