i really like christie's closed door mysteries so much more than her world politics thrillers. this one wasn't quite as bad as the last one, the action being more or less contained to an old english manor, which is good when it comes to cozy mysteries, but it was just dreadfully full of royalism and racist ideas and made-up eastern european countries. although i did like the two protagonists, the twist about anthony's identity and his world view really took all my sympathy. agatha christie just has no idea about socialism, every socialist in her books ever is either somewhat good meaning or eastern european and in both cases very unintelligent. let's just say bundle is the coolest out of the bunch.

I've a bad habit of rating books and letting them sit for days or weeks after, which in the best case will help clarify my thoughts on it and result in an elegant beautiful review, but in most cases will lead to my forgetting entirely what the book was about. My vague impression of this one from three weeks later is that it was weird about colonialist Britain in the way a lot of vintage books are, but if you asked me for any more information than that I simply could not give it to you

Found it easier to follow the characters in this one and thoroughly enjoyed it. Did find the twists at the end a little unbelievable thus gave it a lower score than I initially intended.

Agatha Christie's characterization of people is unmatched.
