This is so much worse than the first one....the only shining hope is some good characters in Sherlock and Watson but other than nothing redeemable.
Easy to read, interesting, but also a lot of things haven't aged well.
C'est pas que ce soit mauvais, le signe des quatre est quand même nettement mieux qu'une étude en rouge, mais c'est quand même pas terrible. La résolution du mystère fait appel à un deus ex machina, et le récit des événements ayant conduit au drame est bien longuet.
Liked the story but some touchy subjects. Of course its expected from the time this book was written.

An amazing thrilling mystery with more action than the first!
Yet with multiple boring chapters and many racist statements (which I can forgive because of the times), the novel drops down to a 4 star instead of a five.
One silver lining to this novel is Watson's romance with Miss Morstan, one thing Doyle can do effectively is mysteries and romance.
