I liked this book better than the first. You dive into the characters even deeper and come face to face with an alien race that is very interesting and explores the ideas of memory even more.

The multi POV hurt this novel I think. It picks up at the end but takes a bit to get there. Overall, less interesting than the first but still compelling.

I hated the aliens and that this was a first contact story.

I didn't enjoy this quite as much as the first, mostly because we don't (to my taste) spend enough time with Mahit - we get several other POVs now, which worked for me sometimes but too often were not quite as interesting as her's - and the pace was slower. Still great though!
