It's a children short story book. I needed short stories for my Saturday class and I was blank. So it totally fits the purpose.

I have always loved Sudha Murthy for her story telling abilities. Her writing language is so simple yet it has a profound effect on our thoughts and mind. How simply she describes and tells these important and smallest of values through stories is just beautiful to read.

This book describes summer holidays at grandparent’s house. If you have not experienced it you can do that with the help of this book. For summer holidays children have visited their grandparent’s house and every day Ajji (Grandmother) or Ajja (Grandfather) or a close relative of them narrates them a story. This book is a collection of many short stories like who was the happiest of them all, five spoons of salt, how the seasons got their share and many more like these.

This is a children’s book but I think that every person no matter what age can read these stories and it will always give you that warmth of closeness and love of your grandparents.

My favourite quote from the book was “One can never stop learning. Knowledge is the only thing it’s good to be greedy about.”
