Gorgeously illustrated with sparse poetic words. A lovely story of a child's wish for a slow day with a parent. Great book to play "do you see?" And follow up with talking about our own wishes.

October 2016 - the scant (but gorgeous) text makes this read like a wordless book - you have to really read the pictures to get the story, but the story it contains is so lovely and perfect. Confession: it almost made me cry, reading it to myself. Ben was really focused on it, and we really talked through all the pictures. I'm not sure if he really got the story, but he loved talking about the pictures.

Illustrations and sentiment were both jaw-droppinginly beautiful. Another Caldecott for Beth Krommes, perhaps?

Gorgeous scratch board illustrations, with a lovely wish that leaves you feeling warm and at peace.

The story, in poetry, spread out sparingly over the pages, is gracefully and clearly communicated, and perfectly conveys the strong longing for snow in order to have more time with family members.

The illustrations in this book are exemplary, each page by itself a masterpiece suitable for framing. This is a book to buy for yourself to enjoy, and to share with your children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. An instant classic, one that will stand the test of time.

Very Highly Recommended.

A poetic wish for a snow day. It was a bit abstract but still a nice read.

To quote a co-worker, "This book gave me goosebumps." The words are heartbreakingly beautiful. I could drown in the illustrations. Perfect for a rainy day storytime.
