Another fun and interesting short story in the Forward series!

I enjoyed this one, especially the subject matter for You Have Arrived at Your Destination.

I thought this was a great idea on whether it's a good idea to make a designer baby in IVF. If we give a child certain traits and genetics, will that child really turn out like what the demo says?

I like the way this one ended but felt it was a bit rushed. I think I would have liked around 20-30 more pages and it would have been a more satisfying read for me.

I have not read any books by Amor Towles and I really need to rectify that!

Absolutely the most compelling and thoughtful story of the bunch. The pacing and characterization was fantastic and perfectly suited the short story form. One of the only ones in the collection that makes me want to read other works by the author.

So, I've never read anything by Amor Towles before, but my take-away from this--aside from quickly realizing he's not a SF writer and thinks derivative slop is fine for SF audiences--is in his writing, there are "attractive" women and then there are "African-American" women. Yeah, OK. Amor.

Wasn’t sure what to expect, but I love Amor Towles’s stuff so… This was interesting. I wish it was a little longer, but otherwise it was good. The afterward about the collection of short stories makes me interested in reading the others.

(I’m counting this cuz I’ve also read some big books, so I figure it averages out a bit.)

This one is the one that seemed most plausible and terrifying to me.

I think I would have found the story more entertaining if I didn’t know that Lulu and Nana were born this time last year. These twin human girls were a result of the experimental editing of human embryos to create a human being with HIV immunity. Census trends, healthcare predictive analytics, and CRISPR (a genome editing technology) already exist in our lives right now. This story may be more science than science fiction.
