I bought this book at the used book store, because it was a dollar and I remember watching Breaking Amish and Amish Mafia or whatever it was called on television while I was folding laundry. We have some Amish communities around where I live, but I have never been to one, nor have I met someone who was Amish. This wasn't the best book I have ever read, nor was it the worst. It was entertaining, and I did learn about some of the religious rules and restrictions that Amish people have.

I listened to the audiobook and as much as I liked the book overall, as someone from Lancaster,PA the narrator was like nails on a chalkboard with his incorrect pronunciation of Lancaster and Lebanon. It drove me absolutely crazy. The actual info in the book was both confirmation of things I knew and insight on some things I didn't. I enjoyed it.

I had much higher hopes for this book. It was not at all what I was expecting.

The book was good but got a little jumpy towards the end. The last few chapters seemed to jump around topics more then the rest of the book. But overall it was a good read.
