a perfect read for the end of a stressful week and the start of a vacation. Despite some predictability, it was easy, pleasurable read.
I had high hopes but this just didn't do it for me. But I persevered and finished it anyway. Cute. But not clever. No surprises - you could spot the plot line from a mile away.
I mean it is SO cheesy obviously but I really loved this book. I laughed! I cried! If this is your genre you will love it :’)
I tore through this and really enjoyed it, especially the details about Milwaukee, which I don't know and now want to. It's a sweet romance, no pun intended, with great descriptions of food and characters who are fun to spend time with, but unrevealed secrets take a hard-to-believe amount of time to come out. As a cake, it would be a little dry, but with fabulous frosting, lovely appearance, and overall delicious if not perfect.
This was a delight. While entirely predictable, it was easy to listen to and fun to take the "food tour" of Milwaukee even if only in my imagination! Definitely makes you hungry!
A beautiful ode to love, good cooking, great food and to the city of Milwaukee, Amy E. Reichert's "The Coincidence of Coconut Cake" is a treat to enjoy. The love story of Lou and Al is heartwarming and a delight to read. Wonderful characters who bring the story and Milwaukee to life. I never cared to visit the city before but after reading this novel and about its attractions, I look forward to it as well as reading more of Reichert's books one day.
The Coincidence of Coconut Cake is such a sweet read! It’s one of those books where not a lot happens but you are in love with the words and the story they tell anyway. It’s a great book to curl up with that won’t take up too much time.
I loved Lou and Al’s relationship! It was so sweet and romantic and the drama was good but not off putting.
It was the perfect book to read while I was in a bit of a slump.
