I know this is supposed to be a classic, but I couldn’t finish it. The stream of consciousness was no fun and super confusing. I usually enjoy classic literature and don’t give up easily, (I was even an English major in college) but couldn’t do this one.
I really liked the writing. But I couldn’t really get into it much. Maybe reread later. Definitely will read more Faulkner.

It was a good book... but it is not my favourite out of all. Still recommend it tho'... it is another challenge.
Wow. Just… wow. I liked “As I Lay Dying” but I want to say I liked it how I liked “Wuthering Heights” - that is to say I like it because I hate it.
***SPOILERS***
Of course this is just my opinion, but the characters of Faulkner’s book were just the absolute worst with very little absolution available to them. Cash was a palate cleanser in the book starting with his dull literalness. He progressed as a narrator in this final section of the book, moving from concise explanation and short snippets of cut-off thought to a well-rounded story teller and the best narrator of the book. Maybe this is ironic because as Cash is developing as a narrator, Darl is crumbling as one.
Cash and Darl are fascinating characters to me because of their switching of roles in regards to narration, with Darl beginning as the more reliable and descriptive POV and Cash being short and uninteresting, and the book flipping to end with Cash being the more reliable and descriptive narrator and Darl being short and slightly incoherent.
I really enjoyed the psychologies at play with the reactions of the characters to death. I also like that every narrative was an unreliable narrator.
