Ahh I loved this by the end so much but definitely had to warm up to the style of writing and the characters and everything. Captures the characters and this family and their relationships in such a raw and heart wrenching way - had to keep stopping every few pages to just take a moment and sit with the pain of these characters that they don't even necessarily understand or are able to face themselves.

I haven’t read a book like this in a long time. It was challenging to get into the language and the pacing and the many narrators but once I did I really enjoyed it. I felt immersed in their world and all of its pain and injustice and tragedy. Fuck Anse

Una novela,que muestra una realidad muy cruda, personajes medios trastornados, un ambiente lúgubre y violento, te sorprenden las acciones fuera de lógica y de lugar de los personajes. Su forma de vivir tan salvaje.

This is definitely my favorite book of all time. It traces the journey a southern family makes to bury their mother in another town. Each chapter is told from the point of view of a different character, so we move in and out of the heads and viewpoints of all the major characters and a few minor ones. All in all, a great book.
