MIENTRAS AGONIZO

With the exception of a few flashes of brilliance, this book’s achievements feel somewhat small relative to those of Faulkner’s masterpieces.

I don't doubt that there is that rare individual that honest-to-god loves this book. However, the more I read this book the more I was convinced that the majority of people that claim they love this book do so for clout.

Edit: I previously thought that this book was trash. I was an idiot. Still an idiot today, but now I have better taste in books. Simply put, this book is nothing less than a masterpiece. The characters are crafted beautifully and they each offer their own perspective on such a tragic, yet often comical, situation.

I have got to say that my favorite characters are Jewel and Cash. They are the silent type, but they get things done and they do right by their family. On the other hand, Anse can choke. Anse is a disgrace. I hate Anse more than I have ever hated a fictional character. That lousy, no good, dirty-rotten, cheating, lying, scoundrel.

As I lay telling trying to explain that I like this novel without you rolling your eyes at my unoriginal taste.

It was okay (2.5). The stream-of-consciousness monologues for each character were interesting and sometimes even poetic, but often also very complex and difficult to read. The story itself bordered on absurd here and there, yet it managed to do so in a strangely realistic way.
