will write an actual review for this tomorrow morning when i have had some time to digest what i’ve just read and be a little less insane about it, given that i did finish the entire book in one sitting (it is currently the 4th of april at 3am and i’m losing it, thank you very much)

Both characters were a bit hard to love or care for at the beginning but as the story developed they really began to shine. I didn’t like the fake wedding plot point, I thought it was a bit unnecessary and felt very much shoehorned in. I also would have loved a bit more development here and there. More of the proposal and seeing Clay at the wedding. There were times Thom clearly hurt clay but they brushed it off too easily and moved along with the political plot. A bit more of the emotional, mental side of the characters would have really added to this story.

It is the mark of a great author to take characters this terrible at the beginning of the book and make a love story that I actually care about. Fabulous, fabulous job.

An okay read. An easy read, didn't bore me, didn't find it ridiculous at times and could understand the characters. Honestly thought that Thom was a huge dick, specially the whole deal with Kerry but I guess he had to go through that to get to where he was at the end of the book.

I really liked the romance. It was fake trope done well, considering the yearning and the angst and the love in between. I really really liked the moments when they both let go, Clay and Thom together, at the music store and the waffles, ohmygod. So sweet.
