Very gripping. So glad I didn't read this during the early days of the pandemic. As it was, I still got a lot of anxiety from the pandemic-focused parts. The ending felt a bit abrupt, honestly this book could have gone on for another 50k words and I think it might have been better for it, but the other book I read by this author also had a similarly big build up to... not much of an ending. So maybe that's just her vibe.

3.5 stars. I enjoyed the parts of this book that took place after the collapse, and I enjoyed the way the different stories were all woven together. I found the parts that took place before the collapse rather boring. The entire book was beautifully written, however.

A fascinating adventure across multiple eras, all intertwining and connected on various ways.

This book definitely lived up to my expectations. Apocalyptic, yes but with a dash of hope.

Really enjoyed this one, but too short!! Not sure I completely understood the significance of the Jeevan connection and wish there was more detail about the daily lives of the people both during the outbreak and after. I really enjoyed the perspective of this book though, and how it spanned before/during/after - a refreshing break from stories with zombies/climate change/etc. where the threat is omnipresent even after the apocalypse, it was interesting to see what would happen if the apocalypse happens but the world went on - how would people adapt in that situation? Generally great, but wanted more depth to everything.

I won't lie. It took me a while to get into this novel but at the end of the day I have to say I really did enjoy it! I've heard a few friends mention that they didn't care for it because they kept waiting for something to happen....maybe that's why I did end up enjoying it so much...I finally stopped trying to figure out any surprises or to look for something to happen....let's face it...the story itself is what is happening....from start to finish life and the end of life is happening....this is one of those rare books that you don't have to look for the unexpected. You don't have to follow a storyline of ups and downs...you just need to sit back and follow along in the life of the day of survivors of an epidemic that has wiped out the majority of Earth's population.

However, if you think this is a novel about a post-apocalyptic world you would think wrong. This is a novel about what it means to be human. About what it means to remain human in the face of adversity...

I believe that with the success of this book that there will be a second novel....it would be wonderful if we are lucky enough for Mandel to grace us with another...I would love to hear more about Station Eleven. I would love for all the characters to meet up at some point...having said that, don't go into this feeling you might be disappointed with a storyline that didn't end....remember! This isn't that type of book....

It's well worth the investment of your time....

a disaster novel with a plague but told through the eyes of artists and how their lives interact. Really interesting to see how their life looked after the epidemic and how life evolved.

3 and a half stars. I love that one of the main characters has my name! Lol. I thought it was a fast read and easy to get wrapped up in, but ultimately I felt like it toed the line of being a thriller and just being a non-fiction work about disease.
