When Aidan was born, his parents thought he was a girl. Having experienced the pain of being misgendered, he wants to be extremely certain that it won't happen to his new baby. But what if he makes mistakes, and isn't a perfect big brother? His parents assure him that he will be a great big brother, since he already knows how to love. Honestly I'm not sure any adult can get through this sweet story without tearing up.

A totally terrific picture book, which depicts the experience of being trans without being an issue book. Add to your "a new baby is coming" pile!

Stunning mirror/window (Sims-Bishop) picture book about Aidan, a child who transitions from female to male. The support of his family and friends was inspiring, and Aidan’s thoughtfulness about his new sibling and their needs melted my heart. The vibrant illustrations supported the author’s messages that it’s okay to be who you are, to make mistakes, and to celebrate your uniqueness. Beautiful in all aspects.

An important read for children and adults. A must-have for library collections!

Great author's note at the end, too.

This book was SO CUTE!!! Ugh, my heart hurts.

I really really loved this book. Sometimes I get frustrated when stories about trans kids rely heavily on traditional gender stereotypes to explain how a kid knew they were trans which isn’t fair or accurate. This book did not do that.
