I don't know how the author does what she does. Usually, when books follow slightly stupid, quite unlikeable characters I am extremely annoyed. Lianne Moriarty has the skill to make me care about their lives anyway.
The book is full of weird family dynamics and big and small tragedies. It made me consider human relationships on a deep level and saved me some money on psychologist visits considering toxic relationships with romantic partners. I don't think I've read more insightful contemporary authors.
You should definitely read it if you love unusual dynamics between sisters. I am also sure one of the sisters could be described and neurodivergent however it is not mentioned anywhere in the book.
