I needed a quick, smutty read between books. This was cute and fun!

2.5 ⭐️’s, it was short and cute and good for what it was. Definitely not a story you take seriously tho, just meant for funzies. The texting was cringe otherwise I would’ve given it 3 stars.

🎧: 4/5 - dual narration. I adore Jack Calihan! He's been in some of my most favorite monster romances so it's always fun to hear him! Stephanie Rosenbloom did a fantastic job as well, I haven't listened to her before but I really liked listening to her, will have to check out other things she's done.
🌶️: 3.5/5 - this is definitely more erotica than story and it doesn't let down in that department! 🪢def makes an appearance!

Def a great book for those wanting to dip their toes into monster romances!

TW/CW: Body image issues for the MMC throughout the story.

This was oddly a very specific venn-diagram of things I loved in one story: a baker/baking, werewolf, and working out, haha. I found this to be a very fun read and the perfect palette cleanser from all the heavy fantasy stories I've been reading lately.

Compared to other monster romances I've read, the writing wasn't as compelling for me as others. They just felt a bit awkward and cringey in some of their interactions together that it took me out of the story at some parts. I usually let a lot of "cringe" things slide but their text messages just were a bit much, along with just some random comments (
like he talked about licking her butthole, which is fine! But then went "is that what the kids are into these days?" and that part felt so bizarre? How old is this werewolf? Why is he acting like he's 19 but also 40?
) I know, I know, I don't go into these types of books for their amazing writing! But comparing to other monster romances of similar story lengths (ex: A Dragon's Bride and All I Wanted Was Sushi and I Got Abducted By Aliens Instead), this one just wasn't up to par with those - still really really fun and a book I'd absolutely reread!

I'm not huge into insta-love in general but I understand the need for it here given the short length of this story but I wish there had been a couple more interactions before the first scene where they're intimate. It just didn't feel quite natural and rushed.

Honestly, I wish this book had been 50 pages longer! I feel like adding more chemistry and connections between the two could have really filled out their relationship so much more.

I did love that the were MMC, who was a super fit gym owner, had some body issues that he was trying to figure out due to his life with his abusive ex. I thought it was a fascinating exploration/representation since that's usually a storyline associated with FMCs. Where as the FMC, a curvier bakery owner, loved her body and was just comfortable in it.

Just overall a fun, cute, low-stakes romance/fantasy story!

So, this book was me dipping my toes into the Monster Romance side of bookstagram AND Y'ALL DID NOT DISAPPOINT! I was SOOOO impressed with the writing for such a short, fast-paced read! It was the perfect amount of fun, seriousness, spice, soul food, and heart-thumping moments! I DEF recommend this series!
