The word is ‘meh’
I’m going through my ‘currently reading’ list to finish up the books I’ve put on pause for the longest. This was one of them. Jumping back into the story, I was immediately reminded of why I had it paused for so long. It bored me. Note, whenever you’re reading and you find your mind drifting, it’s never a good sign. I pushed through though because I wanted to give a fair review. Unfortunately, the story did not improve for me. It was not outlandishly bad, but it also is not something I would read again or even recommend.
Neither of the MCs endeared themselves to me and I honestly did not care whether they lived or died. I had zero interest in their stories or motivations- which, to be honest, we didn’t even get. Jackie is obsessed with her sister, for reasons unknown. I say that not to be snarky, but because we LITERALLY don’t know why she’s willing to make a deal with the literal devil to get her back. Nor do we get any background where we can say, ‘oh, they’re really close and can’t live without each other’ to kind of explain this ferocious need to rescue her.
Ace is not much better. We just know he’s the bastard - at least one of the many - son of Hades who, for all intents and purposes, wants him dead. Story and characters are all quite forgettable. Blast! I’m trying to remember characters and plot points as I type and I JUST read the book.
It gets 3 stars because while I did not hate or love it, it didn’t have any typos or needed edits. So it really is just smack in the middle.

I really liked Jackie and how she made a deal with Hades for her sisters Soul. And Ace Hades son just yum. I really like Brittni and her take on the Gods and their demigod kids.

Just not my cup of tea. Found the fl not likeable at all. Cause she's not like the other girls....I dony know every character felt a bit flat.

Loved the start of this new series
I usually say yay to strong willed females but Jackie didn't really do it for me.
Yes she's amazing and doing what she can to find her sister but she was just I dunno.
Now ace on the other hand well now that's a man who has a big heart and knows what he wants.
Considering he's the son of Hades I absolutely adored him.
Omg blinking cliffhangers grrrr lol can't wait to read the next book now
