I love him for that

On reread, I drop this down to four stars. I really like RLS's writing style. For me, it seems to flow a bit smoother than a lot of other 19th century literature. The final chapter definitely rated five stars and struck a chord but previous to that, four seems to be about right.

My first thought when I finished this book was... Wow! What a book! Two different personalities inside one body! Who wins? The good or the evil? The Saint or the winner? The doctor or the murderer? All souls have two sides: can they coexist? Or one day one will replaced the other? A duel inside the humans: Dark vs Light.

It was definitely good, but I’m more of a Treasure Island gal. He managed to be scarier in that one than he did in this, but that could also just be the fact that I’m in the unfortunate case of having known the twist for almost 140 years, which isn’t the authors fault 😅
