Wow this book was incredible. I am blown away by the art. The story is heartwarming and I learned a lot from this. I had never heard of this korean tradition. These female divers are extraordinary women.

What an amazing book for children. The story begins with sunrise. A grandmother and her granddaughter are looking on. It's a perfect day for diving in the ocean. The Grandmother dives while her granddaughter stays at shore. She wants to dive like her grandma, but she feels as though she is not ready. The illustrations bring this story to life with warm, bright, and beautiful colors. I recommend this book to a young reader who enjoys the ocean.

Good story about a grandma and granddaughter (no parents in story) doing a Traditional form of free diving for see food in South Korea called Haenyeo. There is good information at the back of the book about this tradition and the cultural significance.
Notes: South Korea, grandma.

The scene where grandmother and granddaughter walk towards the ocean, and the land and shadows are surrounding them...should be made into a poster, because grandmas are special. Loved this story.
