Cold Enough for Snow was a bittersweet book. The relationship between the daughter and her mother was expressed throughout the book as if they were both looking into a mirror from different sides. You could see how as they progressed through their lives they drifted apart to become two different people with two very different journeys in life. It is clear they both want to connect to each other like her sister can connect to their mother but it never reaches the end goal. I could see the daughter wanted to show her mother her interest and what brings her joy in life and what makes her her, yet the mother can only broach topics such as jobs, husband, and children.
“It was impossible, ultimately, to compare one life to another, and we always ended up essentially in the same place where we had begun.”

Like a mindfullness meditation in written form. I loved the way the format of the book works with the story, with wide margins that enhance a sense of calm.
