I would give 5 stars to "Open the Moon" alone, and that's really all that matters <3

Umm ok. Half this book is pictures of the inspiration for the city of locke and key.
There are 3 stories and I don't really think they contribute anything to the locke and key series. In fact, I thought 2/3 were kind of dumb.
The first is strong and sweet though.
Overall, not really worth it to me.

Oh dear, I fear a rant coming on concerning the publishers. I don't understand this new wave of releasing graphic novels just for the sake of it. To be honest, the three little sketches in here (yes, sketches, they weren't fleshed out stories) were okay but nothing memorable. I really enjoyed 'Open the Moon' which had a bittersweet sentiment but should have been a lot longer. I found 'Grindhouse' a bit icky (has a focus on rape) *shudders* which I found unnecessary but I did like the twist. But the final story, I mean, was there even a point to it?! It just read like a very basic idea without any foundations to build upon. A waste of time in my opinion.

Having read all of the above, you may be wondering why the relatively high rating. Quite simply it's a trip down memory lane; I adored the Locke and Key series, it's one of my all-time favourites, the dialogue was pretty lean too and the illustrations were superb.

I would say only get this if you are a die-hard Locke and Key fan, otherwise save yourself some money and loan it from the library.

Quick one-shot glimpses of Keyhouse from different times. Behind the Moon made me cry...

A must-read for fans of the Locke & Key series! This follows other Locke family members throughout history. The first story, Open the Moon is a tear-jerker that will play with your heartstrings. The original family is there too with Bodie, Kinzie, and Tyler. The atmosphere and artwork are stunning as usual. The book ends with photos of the authors and actual places in Massachusetts that are the inspiration for Lovecraft, MA.

Open the Moon - 5 stars
Grindhouse - 2.5/3 stars, this one is not my style at all but I do appreciate the Lockes' "fuck around and find out" attitude
In the Can - 3 stars
Bonus photos and art - 5 stars, I'm a sucker for "process" crap and seeing ACTUAL KEYS is just <3333

Whenever there's a crime spree with 2 or more criminals in fiction, one of them is a rapey moron who blows everything by being a rapey moron.

When I put my crew together, I'm not going to hire a rapey moron. I know it'll probably cause me come trouble at the yearly convention (Con Con '23), but I don't care, I'm really tired of these guys wrecking a perfectly good heist to do some sex on someone.

Plus, it seems like the rapey moron is always kind of worthless. It'd be one thing if he was the safecracker or something, and you're like, "Shit, I really don't care for this fella, but there's no way we're getting ANYTHING unless he comes along." But he's never that, he's just kind of a fuckup who's there to fill the quota.

Well, I say no more!
