An engaging crime story about a young and creative man from Harlem. I was assigned this as a literary assignment, and due to this, it was not something I would typically pick up on my own and read. This was not a book for me, however, I do see the appeal for a book like this. The different fonts and the sudden flashbacks with little separation from the rest of the text made the reading experience less enjoyable for me, though for others, it may be a welcoming change of pace from the typical novel. "Monster" was a quick read, I will add, as it only took me about two hours to read.
