This was a weird one. Jake and Co are caught between the Eye of Sauron and the Dungeon Master from the DnD cartoon, and transported to a world full of dumb aliens. Marco has some excellent one liners.

The Solace: This one was action packed and wild. We get a visit from our friendly neighborhood Ellemist and he comes bearing a challenge that takes our group to another planet to save a symbiotic species from a murderous species. On top of all that action, we get more morality conflicts to think through and finally the start of a romance we've been waiting for!

The Dread: We got a couple new species in this book, and we learned a good deal about some of them, but not all. I have a feeling we'll be seeing most later on in the series, but it leaves me wanting more now. We're also still doing repetitive recaps of the series in the first chapter.

Overall, this was a fantastic read. Jack books are arguably and consistently the best in the series, and this one was no different.
