Review: One of the best fiction books regarding how our individuality, even though might be a curse or something to fear by other people, is also something they are compelled by, even if they don't admit it.

We should focus more on how wonderful and interesting our differences are rather than derive hate and fear from them.

It is also a story about the eternal need in all of us, no matter how small to live forever, in paradise, even at times we would wish we are gods as well and are unaffected by death. But death is a part of life, not the opposite of it even time loops that seem to escape or make death invalid, from the very words of Ms. Peregine herself, only delay it.

Death gives life meaning. Therefore removing, death will truly make life meaningless or if not, maybe we become monsters in our desire to live like death is not part of life, like the hollowgast and wights. Maybe not physically a monster but just internally slowly.

Read the whole series, you won't regret it. It is for all ages. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

To begin with, the book is as beautiful on the outside as it is on the inside, and that's really a positive point because personally it makes me want to read it even more!

The story is very gripping, we immediately dive into this strange universe and I never got bored at any time. All the elements are well thought out and well connected, and I find that very satisfying because when you discover certain things, you remember what happened before and everything makes sense !! The story is also image based. I found it super original and I liked it a lot, it completes the story and makes it more real and "credible".

The only negative point is that the chapters are quite long so I sometimes had to stop in the middle of some, and I don't like doing that at all because it cuts out the action and when I took back my reading I did not really know what was going on.

Either way, I can't wait to read the following books to learn more about the characters and see how they will evolve and what will happen ! On the other hand, I discovered that there are five other volumes and I really wonder what the author could have invented to make it so long (I admit that it discourages me a little that there have so many volumes but I still want to know the rest).

The story follows Jacob, a normal 16 year old boy living in Florida. When tragedy strikes, Jacob is left reeling as he struggles to come to terms with a horrible tragedy and the many secrets of his grandfathers past. As Jacob is thrust into a world he doesn't understand he's faced with secrets, dangers, and a choice.

I absolutely loved this book.

The way Jacob grows from the beginning of the book to the ending was done in a way that felt organic. You go to see the choices he made and how those choices changed him. The character growth of Jacob is one of my favorite things about the book.

The secondary characters always served a purpose they were never just there for the plots sake or as a wall for Jacob to talk to. They had their own thoughts, ideas, feelings, stories and that is something I love. When you have such a big cast of characters it can be hard for them to feel like real and not just someone for the main character to talk to for 3 seconds and be done with them.

The story was fast paced, exciting and kept me hooked from the first page. The pictures throughout the book help add a creepy factor to the story without going overboard.

The only thing I didn't like about the book was how long the chapters were. The chapter were so very long and that is my only critique of the book.

I would recommend the audiobook route as the narrator is very good and made reading this even more enjoyable.

Having seen the movie first and not really loved it, I didn't expect to like this book, but boy was I wrong! This is a wonderfully quirky story about self-discovery, finding one's people, and embracing weirdness. Occasionally hilarious and endlessly witty, the characters are as endearing as they are odd, and are wise beyond their years (wink wink). A quote that stood out to me was: "I wondered how such calm could belong to a world at war."
