I could feel the skinny jeans the author wears.

Old Enough was a beautiful book. I resonated and connected with this book in more ways than one. I finished the book feeling so seen. It was a gorgeous mix/balance of love, lighthearted jokes, complicated friendship dynamics, the journey to embracing your full self, and coming to terms with hard experiences. I loved this book!

This is the kind of book that queer teenagers deserve to have. Yes, the dialogue can be cringy at times and lot of the character bonds are a little superficial, but I think this tackles important topics. That transition into adulthood and leaving behind some of who you used to be is such a key aspect of a bildungsroman. Add sexual assault into the mix and that transition is 10x harder. I hope that this gets to the people who need it most. I know if have really benefited from reading this when I was about 16-17.

This was a fun new adult novel about friendship, coming out, coming of age, queer community, and navigating relationships. I expected all of that but did not expect for it to also deal so thoughtfully with sexual assault. Definitely recommend for fans of messy campus novels like Come and Get It. Also the audio was one of the best narrations I’ve heard in a long time. If you can make a dozen different college students sound distinct with one voice, I am impressed. Will definitely be looking for more from this author and narrator.

I overall really enjoyed this book, especially once all the characters were fully eatablished. It was a bit YA in its writing style and how characters interacted - queer gen z college students - but in a way that was the most appropriate way to frame this book. Sav’s bisexuality made me feel really seen as someone to whom that label has always mattered, and the exploration of navigating college/high school friendships, assault, and exploration of sexuality made this a book I wish I’d read my first or second year of college. Really grateful that this book exists.
