4.6/5 stars, full review to come! Like many informational nonfiction books, it was a little repetitive in parts, but the message and lessons were so worthwhile! I’m so excited to start implementing more of my own storytelling in my classroom next year
As a mother, early childhood educator, and lover of stories I found this book SO great and inspiring. Highly recommend if you strive for closer relationships with the littles in your life. Also, actually relevant to ALL ages; we all need connection.
“Storytelling is one of the principal methods by which we pass culture (or meaning) from parent to child and human to human. And not just meaning, but ways of being. Poise. Tone. Swagger. Family history.”
“Storytelling is also, along with touch, one of the greatest arbiters of intimacy and trust. People who frequently share stories are usually bonded in unique and lasting ways.”

Had to return, will probably pick it up another time

Light, easy, endearing and fun read with a powerful message and actionable steps. I started practicing with my kids before I had even finished the book and it's already transformed my relationship with my kids in the most beautiful ways.
Highly, highly recommend.

Started reading in 10/23. DNFd 11/23. Just wasn't getting into it. I thought it was going to be more of a writing resource, and it's about oral storytelling. Which is lovely, just not what I was looking for, and not interesting enough to keep me reading. Just not a good fit for what I'm trying to read right now.
