Honestly was hoping that this would be much better than it actually was. It is only the prequel to the series so I am hoping the first book is better. I heard this series is close to being as good as ACOTAR. Hopefully Throne of Glass is much more interesting. I kept hoping for it to be done…. 🥱 good start to a storyline and I’m excited to keep reading about the main character… but give me a plot!!!!

OMG OMG OMG!!!!! This was such an adventurous and kickass view of Celaena before the Throne of Glass series.
 

I honestly thought this was going to be a smol Novella...like the average novella. This was a freaking tome🤣🤣🤣😭 over 12 hours long. I immediately switched over from the ebook and requested my library to buy the audio (thankfully they approved👏🏼🙏🏼). Without further ado, my ratings for novellas:

• the assassin and the pirate lord 5/10⭐
• The assassin and the healer 8.5/10⭐
• The assassin and the desert 10/10⭐
• The assassin and the underworld/underword (I've seen it spelled both ways but either way my rating does not change)...bump up in star b/c her and Sam kissed😘 4/10⭐
• the assassin and the empire 10/10⭐.... Sam🥺🥺🥺

I absolutely love this book I had personally just finished the other books and reading this made me cry so much. This series broke me and put me back together multiple time and I think this book made so many things I had been missing from the other books. 100% would recommend!!!

I really liked this book. It was a great pace that kept me engaged (read in 1 day). I also found the characters cute and interesting. Overall enjoyed the fact that it gave both plot and character development. Excited to get into the next 7 books.

The short stories in this universe are always great to read. I find myself thinking about some of these characters and others throughout the series that would be great to have stories about.

I wish we got also got a short story collection that set place after that main series to how everyone is fairing after the main series. I think that would be a wonderful send off for the series.
