I still really, really love this world, and I read this book so I could learn more about it, but I didn't really enjoy the experience. Too much completely unnecessary ableist language, and not in a reclaiming kind of way but just for edginess' sake. For a book that deals so closely with mental disorders/illness it was especially disappointing and jarring and ultimately just made me want to be done with the book quicker.

Given that I loved the first book and didn't love this one, the jury's still out for me on whether or not TLT is my favourite series ever or just a quartet with a very strong beginning. Got to read NTN to find out.

I feel really really bad not giving this a full score because this book has broken me down in ways i could not imagine. The writing is incredible, the voice is incredible, the plot is so insanely well done and i have to re read it as soon as i can get my hands on a physical copy to mark up and annotate the shit out of. My only gripe is that it was really confusing, and even near the end extremely hard to follow. Maybe it was just me, maybe it’s meant to be that way, but it felt a little bit off near the end. No spoilers tho. Anyways yes absolutely you should read this book, it’s INSANE

With the focus of the book being on Harrow, this one was harder for me to get through; the first two thirds are emotionally dense. Still, a very good read, and Moira Quirk's voice acting in the narration is phenomenal. I'm definitely going to need to go back and listen to these again!

This book was such an amazing follow-up to Gideon the Ninth. We've got double the millennial meme references (none House left grief!?), even more terrifying space necromancy, and DRAMA. It has one of the weirdest perspectives and plots I've ever read and I LOVED IT. Harrow the Ninth is the ONLY way bury your gays should be used in media, actually.
