God this book is perfect! It's basically everything you could possible want in a book and then some. Seriously Rainbow Rowell you are doing it right! If you haven't read it just go pick it up, like right now!

Okay so this is the first book I have read by Rainbow Rowell and it did not disappoint. I loved it so much because it was so relatable! Fanfiction was such a big thing for Cath, it was her life and that's how I see it, I had the same connection the fanfiction as Cath did. I had so much in common with her also, we have such similar personalities! Since reading it I have lent it out to two of my best friends who have also loved it! We haven't stopped talking about it!

Onto Levi! How cute can a fictional character get? At first Cath was so oblivious to her and Levi's feelings towards each other. She really couldn't see it.
Spoiler But when she read the story to him
Spoiler *queue happy tears* it was the most adorable thing I have ever read. When they finally got together their relationship was soo cute, (EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BOOK IS CUTE OKAY?)

Cath's relationship with her mum was so sad though! I just wanted everything to be okay for her y'know? Then her relationship with Wren and her dad, it was just all so adorable!

Spoiler Can we just talk about Nick for a second! I honestly thought Cath would end up with him, but then he just became this complete and utter ass like why did he do that I thought he was so kind beforehand and the whole concept of writing stories together is just aww, but then he had to ruin it!
Spoiler

I was getting so attached to her character, I homestly loved her so much! That brings me to the end, like did anyone else just experience this empty feeling once they had finished it? I need to know more! I need more of this book, to be honest I never wanted it to end!

The only way I can describe this is being given a really cute puppy for Christmas! I think I'm in love with this book and I can't wait to re read it a billion times over!

Okay, where do I start?
I read this book in one day, in one long sitting. Not because I was so hooked but because it was a cute story, it was like the TV-shows you binge watch and then immediately forget about.
I bought this book years ago when it was hyped all over the internet but I never picked it up - until now.
It was the right book for me to read on a sunday afternoon after being in a reading slump for two weeks, that was great.
What was not great: a lot of things you don't notice if you're "just reading" it. I couldn't connect with the characters and the more the story progressed, the more I got to know them, the less I actually liked them. Cath started to annoy me, she was too full of herself and at the same time too insecure. I get it, let your characters have insecurities but then why don't let them act like it?
Anyway, on to the "fangirl" part of Fangirl. Where was it? Cath is a fangirl and writes fanfiction. That's about it. The topic of her fanfiction and her having fanart gets mentioned here and there but the story is more of a "quirky girl goes to college and doesn't know how to function there"-type of story.
Enough ranting, I still enjoyed reading it (even though I skipped ALL the fanfiction and Simon Snow parts when I relealized they were completely unnecessary for the story).

This book is such a modern take on relationships and the ins and outs of romantic relationships as well as family relationships!
At first, I couldn't relate to the main character Cath but I kind of understood her as the story went on. I felt her hurt and her joy and pain and her relationship with Levi kind of reminded me of my own with my boyfriend and how you can be your weird old self but still adore each other.
I loved how the main character is a twin, you never read that in most books, so although we don't hear from Wren's point of view, it was nice to know the connection between the two girls is inseparable. That is until you get further into the book and Cath and Wren's relationship is turned upside down, we get to see how much their dad, Art, means to them now. To Cath, Art is like two parents in one, she doesn't need a mum because she has him and he has her and Wren to keep him sane.
Cath is mature when it comes to life but immature when it comes to writing, but let's face it who wants a mature author?!
Overall, I really enjoyed this book but I feel like we haven't heard the last from Cath, Levi, Wren, Jandro, Reagan, Nick and Art! I still want to feel Marlisse's wrath towards Cath and see how she fares!
And as for Simon and Baz, well we NEED to know!

Normally, I don't read YA novels because teenagers infuriate me with their first world teen problems. But it seemed like everyone around was reading Fangirl and it keep popping around in Goodreads. So, I finally decided to give in and see what all the fuss was about. The cover was fun and I wanted to see how Rainbow Rowell depicted the fangirl of the title. And she does well: Cath it’s a really refreshing protagonist. She likes to stay in her room writing Simon Snow fanfics instead of meeting new people or going to parties (in short, living the college “experience”) but she doesn't come off as antisocial.
This is a novel of stepping a little outside the box but at the same time staying true to yourself and being proud of what your are (Simon Snow fangirl or whatever). Cather is a compelling character, you root for her, you understand her actions and she’s is adorably quirky.
And just one more thing: Levi. Oh, Levi. Such a cute nice guy. We can all agree that is impossible not to fall in love with him, yep? Yep.
I really liked this novel, I couldn't stop reading it, I loved the characters (well, except for Nick, that dirty scoundrel) and when I finished I was already missing them. Rainbow, if you write a sequel, I wouldn't complain.

Why does Harry Potter also exist in a novel that is fully based around the fandom for a fake Harry Potter series (that Rowell then went on to write several fake Harry Potter novels in?). Worldbuilding 101: THAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. Both these series can't hold the status of Harry Potter! Just include your fake version, ffs.

Also tbh I turned against Cath the moment it was revealed that she's a BNF who never reads anyone else's fic; she's in it for the craft, you see. Love a heroine who's NLOF (Not Like Other Fangirls).

Fantastic!
I totally related to Cath and her love of fan fiction and social awkwardness. She was a wonderful, real character.
Overall, I just loved this story and how at times it was serious, but then it could be funny as well as super sweet. It was great.
