I read this as part of the DANZ awards notable list. I was really impressed with it and I think this series is a great series for younger readers. The story is gentle and sensitive, but with a proper narrative arc suitable for 6-8 year olds. The size and amount of print is perfect for those children moving onto independent chapter books. The range of diversity is really well embedded into the book and the story.
