First let me say I am a fan of Tijan's other work but for some reason I couldn't get into Fighter, which currently I have been reading a lot of boxing/mma stories. It is a very quick read about Delia or "dale" who was raised by her 9 older brothers all with names beginning with D (Very confusing to keep track). The brothers own a bounty hunting business that Dale doesn't want to be a part of so she goes to college. The book opens up on her Christmas break where she is helping her brothers with a bounty only to find out it's her ex whom she broke up with but is still lusting after. It just seems weird how she said she didn't want to be a bounty hunter and than ends up helping out when she is on break even though all 9 brothers were working. There is brief explanation on why she broke up with Jax thinking he cheated but he thought it was her since he was drunk and only kissed the other girl. All of a sudden it's really important for her to be the one to turn him in and now she is trying to help him win this big fight and than she will turn him in. I couldn't really understand why she wanted to be the one to turn him in?Everything just seemed rushed and the book almost felt like there was no plot (in the end charges were dropped and the chase was pointless).

I wanted to like to book but just found more things that didn't add up. Majority of the time I can overlook these issues as I am looking for a quick steamy read and have low expectations, but for some reason this just didn't fill the need.

A quick, hot story. I wished there was more depth to the characters and their history. I liked both Dale and Jax but wanted more.

Fighter is a quick and drama filled novella from Tijan which throws you straight into the action with the opening chapter. Delilah, or Dale, the only girl of nine children has returned home from college for Christmas and is instantly thrown back into the family business, bounty hunting. Reluctant, and ill equipped for the job after five months away, she’s thrown even more for a loop by the group’s target, her ex-boyfriend Jaxon. But Jax has his reasons for bail jumping, and it doesn’t take long for Dale to be swept back up into Jaxon, and into helping him evade her brothers until he’s completed what he needs to, win an underground fighting competition to keep his sister safe. Their plans to dodge and avoid the bounty hunters escalate quickly, as do their residual feelings for each other, but will they be able to keep Dale’s brothers off their tail until Jax is crowned the champion?

Once again, I was transported into the story by Tijan’s writing, and I was hooked from the start. The feelings between Jax and Dale were there from the offset, you could see there were some unresolved emotions left between them and hiding out from Dale’s family was the perfect time to explore them. The action was enough to get my heart racing, and I laughed out loud at some of their plans to escape being taken in to jail.

I really enjoyed Fighter and, although it was such a short book, I still felt a connection to the characters, and I have been left wanting more from this world, especially more from Jax and Dale, but also from Dale’s brother Dylan and her best friend Haley. I’m hoping Tijan has more to come from these characters.
