I was a bit disappointed in this installment, mostly because I wanted more romance. They were cute together and I liked that they were both neurospicy though.

“It’s beautiful,” she murmured, searching for my gaze in the mirror.
“You are beautiful, the dress merely drives the point home.”
There are so many things I loved about this novel, but I especially adored the worldbuilding, the casual queer representation and Taran’s unconditional devotion for his mate.
I’m a hard-core fan of mutual yearning, and both Taran and Maeve were heads over heels for each other since the moment they met. Maeve was all bubbly and cute, and I was smiling from ear to ear every time she started rambling about her interests. Taran, on the other hand, was way more introverted at first and slowly got out of his shell as he spent more time with her. I really enjoyed seeing him go from awkward and shy to confident and flirtatious.
The worldbuilding was super interesting as it is set in an alternative reality in which humans and monsters cohabitated for centuries. As a queer person, I was overjoyed seeing the casual queerness in this book. It felt like a warm hug, comforting and heartwarming, and I truly hope we get to see more casual queer representations in the future.

This was a good book. I enjoyed this short sweet story about a coffee shop and the couple that fell in love there. Taran is very sweet and I appreciated the glossary that accompanied this so I could better understand all the characters and world-building.
