Zenith felt too long, Nexus felt too short, almost like they had tried to force three books worth into one book half the size of Zenith, but in Nexus the writing was a lot better, I am glad I read until the end of the two part series as the second book explains a lot more about the previous story, overall I quite enjoyed it so don’t understand why this series gets so much hate!

Synopsis: Her ship is gone, her crew is captured and notorious mercenary Androma Racella is no longer the powerful Bloody Baroness, but a fugitive ruthlessly hunted across the Mirabel Galaxy. The bloodthirsty Queen Nor now rules most of the galaxy through a mind-control toxin and she’ll stop at nothing to destroy her most hated adversary.

Andi will risk anything, even her precious freedom, to find a cure. Stranded with her unlikely ally, Dex, on the unforgiving ice planet of Solera, their plan to infiltrate a black-market city proves dangerously irresistible.

Back in Arcardius, Nor’s actions have opened Mirabel to invasion. As Andi’s crew fights to regain their freedom, Andi and Dex discover a threat far greater than anything they’ve faced before.

Only by saving their mortal enemy can the crew of the Marauder make one last desperate strike to save the galaxy—unaware that a shattering, centuries-old secret may demand the most wrenching sacrifice of all.

Review: I had to DNF this book at 60%. Upon opening the book I had instant PTSD from the first book. The first book was awful and this one didn't improve much more from it. The characters were flat and uninteresting. They're also obvious copies of other famous YA characters to the point that I wonder how much of their "development" was just straight up pulled from other works. The book doesn't do anything to set the appropriate mood for the theme of it. The science in this book is so superbly flawed and inaccurate that I wonder if the authors ever did any research to begin with. The world building was atrocious and underdeveloped. The romance... ugh, so tropey. I also thought the storyline didn't have any uniqueness to it. I felt like I read a better version of this book somewhere else and that I was beta reading this one. Basically, this book was so awful but I'm glad that the two authors didn't try to lie about it's spot on the NYT bestseller list, post fake reviews, or use their positions to get fake reviews. That, at least, is some improvement.

Verdict: One of the very few books I don't recommend.

*This book was sent to me from the publisher to give an honest review*
I really liked this book and loved it way more than the 1st book. This book has so many adventures in it and I loved the structure of the plot for this one. I feel like we got to know more about Andi in this book because I felt connected to her. The antagonist were amazing too and loved how they changed at the end. The only thing I hated was how at some points of the book the scenes would go be rushed when I thought it should have gone slower.

I felt Nexus was a great continuation of Zenith. The plot in Nexus felt a bit more meandering and slower than Zenith. Towards the later Nexus, I felt events happened so quickly and abruptly that I just had to know what happened and didn't want to put it down. While in Zenith, sisterhood was more front and center, Nexus had more of political intrigue/power plays front and center. I felt satisfied with the ending. Overall, Nexus was very well written.

What happened with Lon and the dragon was pretty ridiculous. He could have just thrown the grenade, and that entire little sub-plot could have been avoided. It was also weird that there's just a random dragon for the first time in the series. It felt very much like it was just poorly slapped in there for the drama of killing people off without any real reason, but they couldn't think of any good way to push things forward. I don't think the whole book was poorly written, but that part definitely was. Additionally, then Arachnid was telling them they weren't given all the information, Androma immediately asked why they would want to do that. Because, like you were literally just told... Lol.

Other than that, I feel pretty much the same as the first book.

I enjoyed the ending and happened with all the characters. It had some crazy plot twists, and I liked the plot. There were some instances of poor writing or bad execution, but overall, I'm happy with it.

gods i loved the end of this duology. it’s taken me way to long to read nexus after finishing zenith (the first in the series). the story ended in a way i didn’t see coming, and the epilogue was so beautifully written (i cried).

As someone who absolutely loved Zenith despite everything, I was really looking forward to the sequel and luckily, I was not disappointed! I wish it was longer because somethings did feel rushed and crammed but overall, I loved Nexus!

This duology is such an intense, high stakes sci-fi but also ends up being really fun and unique too! Although the writing isn’t the best writing ever, it’s still so engaging and fun to read about. I’ve grown so much love for all of these characters apart from Dex, although, I did grow to like him throughout Nexus and I thought this book was a really good way to round off all of these story arcs!

Although, again, I do feel pressured to make the disclaimer that I do not watch either of these two ladies on YouTube and I feel that even now, people are up on their high horses about the fact that if you really enjoyed this series, you must be watchers but I’m generally not I just really loved this duology and I think it’s shitty for people who didn’t like it to crap on people’s opinions just because they didn’t like it!

Overall, Nexus was a really wonderful end to this saga and I’m really excited to see what these two authors do next as it will be sad to see them not working on this series anymore but I’m looking forward to future works from both of them!

If you like sci-fi and enjoy a high stakes series with great characters, an engaging storyline and some fun heist elements then I highly recommend this duology!

Arc was kindly provided by Netgalley but all opinions are my own!
