This was a great cozy mystery! I was surprised by a few aspects of the storyline which made the book very intriguing.
My only con was the amount of characters in this first book of the series. It came across a little confusing trying to keep up. However, it could be the author's way of setting up stories for the other books in the series that involve the characters mentioned.
I enjoyed the writing from the author. I look forward to reading the remainder books in this series & would recommend it!

First in series - Bread Shop Mysteries
Audiobook (All of my entries on The Story Graph are audiobooks.)
Why I added this book to my TBR pile: It was an offering on Chirp, but I got it free from OverDrive.
Will I read more of the series?Probably Not Maybe Highly Likely The story had some weaknesses (more telling than showing), but that merely reminded me that I should go back to writing. I had a hard time with the narration. It was so sickly sweet and blah. It would have been a better experience with a different reader. I'm not sure if I'll listen to more installments because of the narration. The writing may get better, but will the narration? Ms. Durante has narrated others in the series, so maybe I'm missing something. Listened at 1.2 speed.
The narrator was Emily Durante. See comments above. (I'm sorry Ms. Durante.)

If you like bread, pugs, or cozy mysteries, you’ll probably enjoy this charming read. I don’t think I’ve ever read a cozy mystery before this one. I liked the characters, and the bread parts felt well paced. The perpetrator seemed to come out of nowhere, alongside some unaddressed ableism in the end, though. I’m also not at all a fan of the “the one that got away” trope. Content warnings for grief, parent death, vehicle accident, murder.
Graphic: Grief, Ableism, Mental illness, Medical trauma, Injury/Injury detail, Death of parent, Death, Car accident, Alcohol, and Murder
