I grew up watching Lauren run. I looked up to her. Back then, I had no clue what my favorite female athletes were going through just to get to each starting line, including the societal abuse of body image and expectations that lead to an internal battle in so many young athletes. I appreciate Laura sharing her story and it resonates with me and my own experiences of running xc and track in high school school. Running and I have not always had the best relationship, but we are working on it and working towards a healthy future and finding joy in reaching the starting line of every run.

Just wow. This is a raw, vulnerable, brutally honest memoir. I teared up more than once. LF spends a lot of time discussing the past, current and [hoped] future of women's sports. Of course it's largely specific to track & field but there is much material that can be applied to all women athletes, particularly adolescents and younger women.

Loved this book - I saw so many of my experiences reflected as both a runner and a dancer. One point off because at times it did feel a little ~2010s, girlboss~ for my tastes but for the most part I felt like the book did a good job of pointing out issues in women’s sports in a way that was objective and easy to connect with.

A beautiful hard story of personal truth that helps expose issues that make athletic fulfillment harder than it should be for half of our population. I like her idea of having a certification process for coaches of female athletes to start getting basic awareness and skills out there.
