This graphic novel includes The High Republic Comics #11-15 and Eye of the Storm #1-2. My reviews of each issue are as follows:
#11: An interesting start to this graphic novel, picking back up at Keeve and Terec. Not ~too~ much has happened in the grand scheme of things, but I do appreciate the tension building.
#12: So much to unpack in this issue! First off, poor Sskeer! I feel so sad for him, and I hate that our first Trandoshan Jedi is being taken out by my species-specific disease that makes them “anti-Jedi” in a sense. I hope they can find a “cure” for this so that he can continue. I’m curious to see how they’ll develop that. Second, Avar. It is very interesting to see this development with Avar. Is she going off the deep end (perhaps she is since we know Stellan eventually takes on her role on Starlight) or is she the only one seeing clearly with Sskeer (she makes good points about him not listening, and clearly something is wrong with him)? Only time will tell!
#13: So. Much. Action! This issue was action packed and so fast paced, I loved it! I will say, I think we’re getting an answer to my previously posed question—Avar does seem to be going off the deep end. I am concerned for her motivations here—a lot feels like revenge, and as Keeve called out, she’s killing in cold bold. No wonder she’s soon stripped from her role over Starlight. As a side note, I really appreciate that this issue is tying into the stories of the Junior Novels. Just goes to show that every piece of media from THR is important to the larger story!
#14: “Not everyone can be perfect all of the time. Not even you.” What a powerful line that plays into so many characters throughout the Star Wars universe. I feel like it’s so easy for us to look at the Jedi as these “perfect” beings with the strongest moral compasses and the inability to do wrong. I love this juxtaposition here where we are exploring that all Jedi struggle with something and cannot possibly be, or be expected to be, perfect all the time!
I do love how this issue is showing us the other side of the call between Stellan and Avar. We are seeing the events of The Fallen Star from a new perspective, which I am greatly appreciating so far. I can’t wait to see what else Avar and this gang have done with their time during the remaining events of that book. This is unfolding so nicely. An incredible series so far that is continually getting better and better!
#15: Ah, the events from The Fallen Star that ripped my heart out told from a new perspective. This issue had me bawling my eyes out by the end. To see Maru give his life, and to save Avar in the process!? So gut wrenching. Not to mention Sskeer?? I am so heartbroken to know he is gone and to watch that painful, emotional goodbye between him and Keeve. Why does Star Wars love to kill the characters we love!?
EOTS: Very interesting read. I like when we get to see these things from a new perspective—the Nihil’s perspective rather than the Jedi’s. Lots of darkness, got me feeling kinda bad for Marchion. He didn’t ask for this, he just felt like he had to continue in his family’s footsteps! Interested to see where his story leads!

Phase 1 felt like the story was already pretty well established when I was reading the novels, but from the comics I can clearly see this is just the beginning. And what a beginning that was! Not gonna lie, this for me rivals with the prequels. And I’m a prequel girlie!
I cannot wait to get into phases 2 and 3!

The end of this run was such a gut punch. I love the High Republic comics so much and got so attached to these characters, and I'm very worried about what will be happening to them in the future especially after reading Eye of the Storm. Both issues are featured at the end of this trade paperback and not only tell us Ro's past, but his plans for the future. And let's just say I'm not emotionally prepared.
