Oh wow this book was long, and intellectual, and beefy, but boy it was pretty good!!! I feel like it may have been slightly overhyped but I still very much enjoyed it
I thought each of the cohort characters were so interesting and thought out in their all way- I actually thought the least thought out was actually Robin but I still very much liked him as a main protagonist. I thought it was extremely easy to love Ramy and Victoire and I loved the complexity of Letty. Even the secondary characters of Abraham and Griffin were super interesting to read about and I loved them as much as the main four.
The relationships and interactions between all of these characters was what really boosted the book up in rating for me- their social dynamic was so captivating which is why I mainly enjoyed the middle section of the book. Professor Lovell’s relationship with both Robin and Griffin was so fascinating in how those relationship had ups and downs.
Professor Lovell’s death was the moment for me when I thought oh my god this book is going to be great- I was shocked and completely invested when that happened. The same with Letty’s killing of Ramy and the death of Griffin. It just added so much depth to it and it made me want to read it so much more.
Like I said, the middle was probably the best part. It took me a little while to fully immerse myself throughout the opening and it lost me a bit at the end when they barricaded themselves into Babel, but the very ending was good.
Overall a really cool book!
