I loved this book. Bitesize biographies of luminaries and ordinary people. What struck me most was the similarities, people from all over the world found joy and meaning in many of the same things: family, friends, nature, learning, good work, helping others. And none of them needed a theism to for those things. And when you think about it, those are the things almost everyone finds joyful and meaningful. But many people layer supernatural belief over that.

I still wonder why? Why do we seek meaning in the supernatural? The supernatural is beyond nature and thus we have no means for investigating it. At least not now. No evidence for it. So why? Why believe in it? Why not focus on the here and now, the people we have around us now. Focus on making things better for those around us and those to come.
