Justice League, Vol. 1: Origin by Geoff Johns

This was a bit underwhelming. Frankly, this brings nothing new to the table. I'm all open for a retelling of the Justice League origin story but at least try to make it a bit more interesting? Not that the way they brought it together was bad, it just felt a bit hurried up. A bit more flow would have been better. Also, certain things about various characters seemed off.

That said, some things about the volume are super good. The art. The banter between Batman and Lantern. Batman being Batman. Batman not being Batman. Just Batman. Batman again. Batman. And as always, Wonder Woman's entry! (Her body too, actually. Oh, the hotness!)

Being completely new to the world of DC comics, this was a great introduction to some of their lead characters. We witness superheroes before they are famous or even the term 'superhero' is known. The superheroes meet each other, discover their powers and characters, and in the mean time fight a world threatening evil. I wouldn't say the story is very memorable, but it is still very entertaining. The art looks amazing, the interaction between the 'superheroes' is very funny at times and most importantly for me; the story is very accessible for a newbie like me. Looking forward to the rest of The New 52!

I've REALLY enjoyed the New 52's Batman, Wonder Woman, and even Superman (at least while Grant Morrison was writing Action Comics). Never been a fan of Green Lantern, haven't cared enough to read Flash, and now I know Aquaman is not interesting to me. Geoff Johns always disappoints me, but I guess I can see why the masses like him as a comic writer: he carries things along just as expected without challenging anyone to think too hard. I'll read the second and third volumes of Justice League, if only because I'm looking forward to Martian Manhunter joining the team, and the most cocky characters figuring out why Batman instinctively gives tactical commands and is then always pissed when no one takes him seriously.

Some people don't like the Justice League's attitudes in this reboot, but I actually enjoy that there is some Marvel flavored animosity between the Super Friends. Darkseid is introduced perfectly as the big bad in this.

Fairly standard super-hero team formation. Members fight until something bigger and badder comes along to join them in a common enemy. The action and art are great and the storyline was decent until the last issue. The last issue is where [a:Geoff Johns|10305|Geoff Johns|http://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1235508544p2/10305.jpg] really pulls you in by adding the perspective of a normal man who watched the Justice League's most recent battle. Will definitely keep me reading
