Awww, this was such a fun rom-com! I felt like Sam was such a relatable character because NO ONE wants to show up single at a wedding their ex is attending too. Not sure most people would go to the lengths of hiring a fake boyfriend but Jake was such a delight as a character. Even though the story line sounds familiar, I thought the author added humor and warmth to it without the book being overly cheesy. It put me in a good mood, so there's no higher praise than that!

This story has been written before and yes, I have read better versions of this tale. But, that being said, I laughed out loud numerous times during this read. Very enjoyable. Cute and understandable characters. I was rooting for the love story and I enjoyed all side plots. Perfect fun rom-com.

The Wedding Date delivered exactly what I was looking for: a fun and frivolous story that I could read quickly and not have to think about too hard.

I was surprised though by how much I liked Sam. She wasn't daft and didn't get herself into stupid cringy situations and I thought she was actually very funny. Her internal monologue made me laugh a few times! Jake was lovely and the attraction between him and ... - the most important thing in this type of story - was alive and well.

More could have been made of the Scottish setting and some of the characters were a bit too one dimensional. There wasn't much life in the story outside of Sam and Jake, the wedding felt a bit flat and the mother's lack of personality started to get irritating rather than funny after a while. In fact, the whole story started to drag and get a bit daft towards the end.

Overall I found this an enjoyable read even if the end was a bit slow. A good one for the beach!

**I received a copy of this book via NetGalley**

This was a fun, entertaining romp. Sam is a funny character and I really liked her and Jake together. The setup isn't particularly unique and I did have some difficulty getting into the story, but generally I liked it. Life is pretty stressful at the moment so this is the perfect read to take my mind off of things. This was my first Zara Stoneley book and I would read another one.

This was cute, had some sweet and funny moments, and quirky characters. The main character wasn't always likable, though, and there were lots of communication issues that drove me a little crazy.

I would like to thank netgalley and Harper Impulse for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Cute relationship of convenience story, but full of fat phobia.
