I picked this book up thinking it was a retelling of Little Red Riding-hood, but it was so much more in happy, wonderful ways. It quickly broadened to a well fleshed fantasy world with the story approached from two equally interesting sides. Impressively, the prose itself was as good as the story. Many times I went back to reread sentences and that is not something I would normally do.

I think the book was too long.  I was confused by how the woods worked, even after it had been explained a few times.  Eammon and Red falling in love was obviously going to happen, however I don't feel like their interactions together were enough to make me believe it.

The pacing and dialogue were so immersive and believable, even though there was less romance than I typically read, it was so beautifully written and smart, it didn’t matter. Loved it.
