semiyoloji dersi almış bir tasarım öğrencisi olarak kitabın bir noktada görsel öğelere değinerek ilerlemesini beklemiştim. tamamen dil ve kelime yapılarıyla ilerlediği ve özellikle fransızca örneklerden gidildiği için bazı şeyleri kafamda oturtmakta zorlandım.
kitabın başında zaten o dönem semiyoloji üzerine çalışmaların olmadığına değiniliyor, bunun yanında ben kendimce beklentiye de girdim. bu yüzden pek aradığımı bulamadım ve bağlantı kurması zor oldu benim için.

Unnecessarily convoluted and just a collection of what everybody else but Barthes thinks. Not a good book to start with in regards to semiotics. I would recommend something more simple like Sebeok, who writes about the same concepts but it's more accessible in terms of vocabulary and style.

i'm not going to give a rating to this book because i'm not sure i understood it yet. i don't think barthes is being obscure but it's just that he refers a lot to an already established tradition of linguistics and semiology that i don't have much background on and clearly i need to read other stuff first before reading this. that being said, what little material i understood was rather interesting.
